The History of Love Doll

Many people associate the 2000+ year history of lovedoll with the Roman poet Ovid. The story of Pygmalion was featured in the Metamorphoses, a collection of poetry and mythology published in 8 AD.

Legend has it that Pygmalion, the king and sculptor of Cyprus, carved a statue of a woman named Galatea, and because Galatea was beautiful, Pygmalion fell in love with her. Moreover, he wanted to bring her back to life. Amazingly, his dream came true when the goddess Aphrodite brought Galatea back to life and Pygmalion was able to make love to her.
